First Steps Bilingual Preschool & Child Care
Choosing child care comes with a lot of important questions, and we want families to feel informed and confident every step of the way. Here are answers to some of the questions parents ask most about our programs, schedule, meals, communication, and enrollment process at First Steps in Beaverton.
We welcome children starting at 6 weeks old and offer age-appropriate care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Each classroom is designed to support the developmental needs of that stage, with nurturing routines, bilingual learning, and age-appropriate activities.
We are open Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM, giving families dependable coverage for a variety of work schedules. If you need help finding the best schedule for your child, we’re happy to talk through your options.
No, children do not need to be fully potty trained before enrolling. We work closely with families to support toilet learning in a positive, consistent way and follow each child’s readiness and routine with patience and encouragement.
We are a bilingual English and Spanish program. Children are introduced to both languages through songs, stories, play, routines, and everyday interaction in the classroom, helping them build familiarity and confidence with both languages in a natural way.
Tuition includes your child’s daily care, bilingual learning activities, outdoor play, arts and crafts, and age-appropriate enrichment opportunities such as music or piano, depending on the program. Meals and snacks are also included for enrolled children.
Yes. We offer both full-time and part-time schedules based on availability and your family’s needs. Full-time care is available for 4 to 5 days per week, and part-time care is available for 3 days per week. We’re happy to help you choose the option that fits your child and schedule best.
We provide breakfast, a morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack each day. Our meals are designed to support healthy growth, and we encourage families to share any allergies, sensitivities, or dietary restrictions so we can support each child safely and thoughtfully.
We use the Brightwheel app to share daily updates with families, including messages, photos, activity notes, and important classroom information. This helps parents stay connected to their child’s day and makes communication with teachers simple, secure, and consistent.
Our teacher-to-child ratios meet or exceed Oregon licensing requirements for each age group. We keep classroom support age-appropriate so children can receive attentive care, close supervision, and meaningful interaction throughout the day.
